Speed is the Food Service POS (point of sale) program's greatest feature. Centre Food Service POS was created for the sake of cafeteria staff trying to get students through the lunch lines as quickly as possible.
With the press of a button, the lunch attendant selects what the student has purchased. Then, the attendant slides the student's card through the inexpensive ID scanner or input's the student's ID by hand. The student's name and picture is displayed on a confirmation screen and the student's account is debited.
The Centre Food Service POS module tracks student balances on the fly during the Lunch hour and uploads the new balances and student transaction history after lunch is over. If the network goes down during lunch, the POS continues to work, with complete knowledge of student balances. And, if the program or computer crashes, the data is recovered when the program starts up again.
The administrative component of the POS program is just as flexible and intuitive as the rest of Centre. From the Lunch Menu program, you can setup the menu offerings -- grouping them into categories -- and assign their prices and keyboard shortcuts. This program also allows you to define the lowest allowed student balance and the balance which will generate a warning message.
The Food Service POS module integrates perfectly into the intuitive interface of Centre. It allows for Free / Reduced lunch considerations and allows parents to keep track of their childrenís eating habits. Additionally, parentís can maintain their childrenís balances and receive alerts when the balance is running low.
The only equipment necessary to run the Centre Lunch POS program is a computer. Since the program is compatible with Max OS X, Linux, and Windows, your schools can use just about any computer they already have. Schools often choose an old Intel box -- with either Linux or Windows installed. Alternatively, your schools could use a Windows or Linux tablet PC.
Additionally, the program can be controlled by a mouse, with only a common keyboard, a touch-screen monitor, or a card scanner. The interface is extraordinarily flexible in this regard.
The Lunch system is part of the Student Billing package. From the Student Billing component, you maintain student balances and payments. You're also offered a wide array of reports tracking daily billing transactions, daily totals, lunch menu totals, balances, and fees. The Billing modules also prints invoices and letters and is the perfect way to keep track of book, enrollment, and activity fees.
Glenn-Abbey Software, Inc. would setup the Lunch and Student Billing modules for your school district, and we're confident that the interface of every program is intuitive enough that we can train your cafeteria and secretarial staff to be comfortable using both components in no time. |
